Hi, this is Leigh - founder of BabyFace LLC. I want to share my story with you because I want to inspire you to DREAM!
Go after your goals no matter how long or hard it takes to achieve them. Going after mine was the best thing I have ever done. I wouldn’t change my journey or the challenges that came with it. It has made me who I am today.
At the age of 22, I was hired as a nurse’s aide in a nursing home. I wanted to do something that involved helping people. Two years later at 24, I started working as a nurse’s aide in a small hospital in southern Illinois. What this experience taught me from seeing a multitude of patients in every wing was that I needed to pursue a nursing career.
As a single Mom, I secured 3 scholarships to start one course at a time and worked my way through the preliminary. This is what actually got me into nursing school, and I was so excited!
10 years later, I graduated with a BS in nursing. Then, it took me another 4 years to get a masters in gerontology (the study of aging). I had a family to raise and it wasn’t easy.
Then after many years of working in traditional roles of nursing, this girl just decided to go for it: I knew I wanted to be an Aesthetic Nurse before we had a name, recognized profession, or standards. I have never looked back since, that was in 2003.
